With so many homes getting into the holiday spirit the chances of a home fire increases.

What Pete Says

With so many homes getting into the holiday spirit the chances of a home fire increases. So before decking your halls with boughs of holly and lights, be sure to check for loose or frayed wires. Christmas trees and frayed strands of lights are a dangerous combination. Don’t try to repair frayed wires with electrical tape. Replace the strand!

If you haven’t replaced your smoke alarm with a newer 10 year lithium battery powered smoke alarm or installed a Carbon Monoxide detector, do that now. The bells you hear ringing this season should not be those of a fire truck. And when doing all these jobs be sure to use a sturdy step ladder. No sense in seeing more than one Star of Wonder.

All of us at Pete’s Hardware wish you our neighbors a safe and happy holiday season.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
